On Saturday, September 27th, 2008, about 300 people packed into a tent amidst torrential downpours to hear Democracy Now's Amy Goodman speak about her new book, Standing Up to the Madness, a collaboration with journalist David Goodman.
Standing Up to the Madness brings together inspiring stories of grassroots activism across the country, tracing the contours of resistance and hope in everyday life that are all too often ignored by the sensationalized version of American politics presented by the mass media.
Goodman was invited to speak at The 2008 Baltimore Book Festival by Red Emmas Bookstore and Coffee House as part of the Radical Book Fair Pavilion. The Indypendent Reader was there to record the event.
