Ralph Nader, long-time consumer advocate, community organizer, and major figure among independents and supporters of third parties, addressed a devout crowd of over 200 people (estimated) at the 2640 Space in Charles Village on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008.

Democracy Now's Amy Goodman from the 2008 Radical Book Fair Pavilion

On Saturday, September 27th, 2008, about 300 people packed into a tent amidst torrential downpours to hear Democracy Now's Amy Goodman speak about her new book, Standing Up to the Madness, a collaboration with journalist David Goodman. Standing Up to the Madness brings together inspiring stories of grassroots activism across the country, tracing the contours of resistance and hope in everyday life that are all too often ignored by the sensationalized version of American politics presented by the mass media.

East Baltimore Residents Keeping Development Project in Check – Nicholas Petr, (from Indy Reader issue 10)

According to SMEAC director Nathan Soy, the fight is far from over, and residents will be setting up a picket at the EBDI offices on a regular basis until construction begins and the funding of “House for a House” is properly handled.
